A song about feeling stuck in a loop while everything keeps evolving around you.
Veendum marked a new direction in my musical journey, the point where I started gravitating towards a sound palette I think of as night.
Coincidentally, it was Ariya Theeram again that led me here. After its release I went looking for remixers for an Ariya Theeram lofi remix, and ended up collaborating with the music producer Nived NP. While he worked on the remix I was going through his SoundCloud and found an instrumental called Lost Paradise. Within the first ten seconds I felt a melody arriving. I paused, rewound, and literally on my first listen recorded the vocal melody of Veendum in parallel.
When I showed it to Nived, he was gracious enough to experiment with this new version, even though the original instrumental carried some painful emotions for him from a time in the past. Perhaps that emotion travelled through the music into the vocal idea, and Veendum was born.
